Easter Snaps

And the Easter break is gone. How about a quick run through the best bits with some stunning pictures to add to it? Oh go on then.

It started well with an amazing lunch at Bar do Guincho.

Totally recommend it if you're staying in Cascais, even for a quick visit. Amazing view of Praia da Adrága and, as you can tell, amazing food to go with it. Don't forget to order the white Sangria - oh summer!

Once our stomachs stopped complaining, we headed to Boca do Inferno for a little touristic pretend - since every time the Beef comes to town, all we do is eat and drink with the family, culture not so much.

The (three) kids had some fun at the beach.

Easter Sunday was spent in Sintra - a lot of family and babies everywhere!

Monday was time for some (and the only) shopping at Chiado with the sun shining! Then a quick bite at No Solo Italia in Belém - near the river, amazing food and even better caipiroskas!

A good long weekend, never quite long enough...

Straight hair of my dreams

So if you met me about 5 years ago, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, well let's say my hair wasn't quite as straight as it is now... I don't usually do this but because when I tell this story no one believes me, here is a photo taken in 2008 -

Yep, I know what you're thinking. And yes, I didn't know hair happiness back then. It's a family thing you see, my Mum wasn't happy enough with her hair like that and she had to transfer that to us. And my sister decided to do the same thing and (un)blessed my cute niece with the same destiny. But because I’m the best Auntie there is, I've already promised to pay for a lifetime of hair treatments when she comes to age – like, in 2 years if it depends on me.

What is this then? The Brazilian Hair Straightening (Escova Progressiva) came to life (in Portugal) about 5 years ago and changed our lives. Before, we had hours of hair dryer & rolling brush or hours of straighteners that didn't do the job. Now, we have a couple of hours in the hair dresser every 6 months and not much more. Some people are a bit skeptical because this is a product that contains quite a lot of chemicals, including formaldehyde (formol) that is not a good one. Although, this is also composed of keratin (keratina), which completely hydrates your hair and makes it look A-MAZING.

I’ve been doing it for about 5 years and no problems so far – totally in love! I started doing it at Illusion (LX Factory, Lisbon) and am now doing it at Junior Rodriguez and very happy with the results. The prices vary between 70 - 100 Euros, depending on the hair length. Unfortunately, I cannot advise a place in London as I don't know any just yet but I know they are a bit more expensive (what a surprise!).

In love with... #11: The white shoes

So... My trip to Portugal may have been a bit more expensive than what I wanted it to be. I was actually quite good with food as we had so much family time that we barely spent any money in eating out. But that didn't stop me from popping by Eureka Shoes store at Chiado to have a quick look. And get another pair of their amazing shoes, obvs. Fell absolutely in love with these beauts as soon as I walked in. They had them in dark blue as well but the white ones were looking at me with those puppy eyes as usual... Don't miss out the new post coming on Eureka Shoes store and their SS14 collection!

MISS JULIA @ Eureka Shoes

Portuguesey @ Empadaria do Chef

Oh.My.Lord. I'm already freaking obsessed with the Portuguese pastries since I was born but this place is a complete delight. [For my English friends, I mean savoury pastries, not deserts.] Owned by a super famous Portuguese Chef - José Avillez (check his website here) - the Empadaria do Chef turns one of the Portuguese specialities in something quick, easy, affordable and still incredibly chic.

The place

The decoration is absolutely lo-ve-ly. Located inside the Armazéns do Chiado, the mini shopping centre in Chiado, it's the perfect place to pop by and have a quick meal before going back to the touristy stuff. It's super quick, no queues, and you have lots of tables across all the other restaurants so no waiting either. And the actual stand just makes you paint your kitchen blue straightaway.

The Food

I don't even need to go into much detail here. It's just amazing. If you like pastries, then you're in heaven. If you don't, then try it because that's about to change. You have just the right amount of options you need - enough to leave me in my indecisive mode. I went for the Vitela & Espinafres (Beef & Spinach) one, with rice and salad as sides. But please go more than once so you can try the others - and let me know, obvs.

Traditional chicken, Prawn, Beef & Spinach, Chorizo... A whole variety to make your mouth water!

The Menus that make your life easier...

The sides: White rice, Tomato rice, Salad...

The desserts: Lime mousse and Chocolate cake

Convinced yet?! Check out their Facebook page here and then there will be no doubts...
